About

photo of Baron SalmonBaron Salmon, now 19, has come a long way since picking up a guitar 6 years ago. From a fledgling Steve Earle wannabee, he is now in command of an impressive and complex approach to guitar playing that owes more to influences such as Nick Drake and Richard Thompson. His songwriting too has developed from early offerings in fairly standard rock formats to mature, elegant pieces of music that convey a passion for all that music has to offer; where influences from time spent performing musical theatre sit alongside a fondness for strands of American indie music à la Car Seat Headrest flavoured by a strong leaning towards both the traditional and modern stylings of Scottish folk music. Baron Salmon songs explore a broad range of themes, from pangs of growing up and friends staying true or moving on, to quirky anecdotes or tales that have captured his imagination, all constructed and delivered with a playful approach to words and rhyme.

Baron Salmon has released two self recorded EPs in the past year or so and is poised to release his third early in 2018. This third EP has been recorded with a full band and strings and sees the baron working with Rod Jones (of Idlewild).

Baron Salmon has played numerous gigs and concerts over the past two or three years. His performance style is very engaging and recent audiences express almost as much enjoyment at his between-songs banter as they do for his impressive fretwork.

Baron Salmon is currently exploring options to work again with Rod Jones to record his first album. He continues to write and perform his songs live to an ever-expanding audience.
